Okay, so my physio pulled me out of the water for a month due to my shoulder injury. I went to see him 2 days ago and he said that I could get back in the water, but there is a catch. I am not allowed to race butterfly ever again, I can’t do it in training either. Which is awkward as my coach has just started training me for butterfly.
Anyway, the sets I am doing at the moment are once a day: 500m total. I have to have fins on the entire time, stop for a minute or two every 50m. The first 4x50’s have to be slow freestyle. Then the next 6x50’s are breaststroke with fins. Every few days or every week I get to add another 100m to my set.
But to suffice my lack of water training, my coach has had me doing land training for the past month. I have to cycle for 20mins with medium/high resistance and keeping a certain RPM.
Too make everything more awkward, I have a meet next weekend in NSW where I am racing 50m BUTTERFLY and BREASTSTROKE. If I swim more than 2 seconds out from my pb, I will probably cry.
